Reigning World champion Max Verstappen has fired a dig at both Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton after commentary the former made following his record- breaking palm at the Italian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen has fired subtle lodgings at both Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton by claiming the Brit has only won the world title six times. The Dutchman looks set to add another Championship to his collection having made it ten palms in a row during the Italian Grand Prix.
Following his rearmost palm at Monza, he was the subject of review from Mercedes master Wolff, who suggested that his new Formula 1 record was inapplicable.
He said “ I do n’t know if he cares about the records. It isn’t commodity that would be important for me, those figures, it’s for Wikipedia and nothing reads that anyway. ” He has now fired back with some harsh words of his own in the direction of both Wolff and Hamilton.
Speaking shortly after his palm on home soil, he admitted that he was n’t completely sure how numerous pieces of flatware his fierce rival had won. ” With Lewis, I do not know for sure but I mean for someone who has won six world crowns, you must know, ” Verstappen said, to which the journalist corrected him by stating that Hamilton actually has seven titles to his name The 25- time-old also had a cocky retort of” Are you sure it’s seven, not six?” That appeared to be an attempt to point to Felipe Massa’s attempts to be recognised as the 2008 world champion having agonisingly lost out to Hamilton.
The exchange between the intelligencer and Verstappen continued with the ultimate telling the current F1 leader to” look it up” as it’s” in the history books”. Verstappen also fired his dig towards Wolff with his final comment.” I mean, I am not veritably sure, you know, ” he added.” I do not read Wikipedia. Verstappen isn’t the only one to have responded to Wolff’s claims about the Dutchman’s new- set up record.
Martin Brundle also gave his response with a particularly disgruntled assessment. He wrote” For Max Verstappen to win 10 successive races, along with Red Bull taking all 14 races so far this season, it’s truly commodity to behold. ” What an achievement to flawlessly keep up that position of performance and trustability on numerous different track layouts and in varying rainfall conditions, up against potent opposition. Congratulations to each and every one of them. still, they would correctly be encyclopedically lauded at the loftiest position, “ If a tennis player or football or rugby platoon for illustration was so hugely complete and dominant. As should this pairing be. “ Sport can and should be ethnical, but you must surely also appreciate a position of excellence in others.
So I was a little surprised and disappointed that Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff played down this achievement over the weekend, because they correctly entered their due reverence and appreciation during their times of total domination from 2014 to 2020.”
