Nine-year age difference with Kelly Piquet, the secret to Max Verstappen’s success, according to the IndyCar champion in similar circumstances.
One of the most controversial aspects of Max Verstappen’s life is his relationship with Kelly Piquet. Many reasons contribute to this aspect, of which the large age difference between the two is a major one. While most people questioned this relationship, Alex Palou asserted that this could be the reason for the Dutchman’s incredible success when appearing on the podcast on YouTube channel ‘The Red Flags Podcast’.
Palou is no stranger to having a clear age gap in her relationships. Sharing a relationship with Esther Valle since the age of 17, the IndyCar driver has kept most of the details of his relationship with Valle a secret. In fact, the couple hasn’t even revealed when they got married as Palou only recently started calling his Spanish partner his wife.
Like Verstappen, Palou is also an accomplished racing driver, having won the GP3 race and the US national single-seat racing championship. Thus, it is fair for him to say that Piquet brought luck to Verstappen despite the age difference, just like Valle did for him.
Palou backs the Max Verstappen-Kelly Piquet relationship
Both Palou and Verstappen are dominant drivers in their respective sports. They are also almost the same age, which puts them in the same age range. There is another thing in common between the two drivers: they both have older partners.
During an appearance on “The Red Flags Podcast,” host Matt Elisofon asked Palou a question about the effects of having an older partner.
Matt- “You both have older partners. Is this a secret?
Alex- “Yeah. I think so; experience.”
Coming from a family of drivers, Kelly Piquet understands what it takes to become a professional racing driver. She also knows what sacrifices must be made to continue racing at the highest level. So she could be the ideal partner for Verstappen, who is on track to win his third consecutive drivers’ world title.
Palou doesn’t want his child to race, like Verstappen
Speaking on the same podcast, Palou revealed that he is expecting a child in November with his wife. Discussing what he wants his child to do in the future, the Spanish racer dismissed the possibility that he wants his child to become a runner. Revealing that her next child will be a girl, Palou said if she wanted to be a runner, he wouldn’t stop her, but ideally he wouldn’t want her to run. Coincidentally, Verstappen also made a similar statement earlier this year when talking about wanting to have children of his own in the future. The 25-year-old admitted he wouldn’t stop his children from racing if they wanted to, but added that he wanted to do things very differently to the way his father did.
Verstappen’s focus now is on becoming the best driver he can be as he eyes an inevitable third consecutive world championship.
