Bryson DeChambeau has attacked United States Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson after engraving his name on his second LIV golf title in his last three starts.
DeChambeau, 30, shot a final-round 63 at LIV Golf Chicago to overturn an eight-shot deficit earlier in the day to win by one shot over Crushers teammate Anirban Lahiri, who missed the cut. Finally with three shots on the green.
Not only did DeChambeau win the individual award, but his Crushers GC also won the team award. That means Bryson earned $4.75 million for his efforts in Chicago.
DeChambeau made nine birdies with just one bogey in the final round of 63.
He even gutted this monster from a height of less than 80 feet.
This is DeChambeau’s second victory at LIV Golf this season.
The first came at LIV Golf Greenbrier last month when DeChambeau finished 61-58 over the weekend. DeChambeau’s historic round of 16 is the first in LIV Golf League history and the only one ever achieved on the PGA Tour (Jim Furyk, Travelers Championship 2016).
Last month we wrote an article explaining why Bryson deserves a spot on the US Ryder Cup team!
But despite that incredible performance at the Greenbrier, as well as a second-place finish at LIV Golf Andalucia a few weeks earlier and a T4 at the US PGA Championship earlier in the season, DeChambeau was left out of the Ryder Cup team. of America.
DeChambeau played for the 2018 and 2021 US Ryder Cup team.
LIV Golf’s Dustin Johnson also missed.
Brooks Koepka was the only LIV Golf player selected. Zach Johnson also selected Sam Burns, Collin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
Koepka finished T24 with a sub-5 average at LIV Golf Chicago.
He was playing with another driver before the Ryder Cup, as well as having a very different hairstyle.
Speaking to the media after winning the LIV Golf Chicago championship on Sunday, DeChambeau took direct aim at Team USA captain Johnson, who did not even contact him before revealing his pick at the end of the month 8.
DeChambeau believes that he and several other LIV Golf compatriots, such as Dustin Johnson and Talor Gooch, who were not selected as captains, should have at least been called up.
SHOTS FIRED — “It would’ve been nice to at least get a call. There’s numerous people I think Zach should have called out here. We didn’t get that, and I get it, but we’re nothing different.” —Bryson DeChambeau at his presser following the win at LIV Chicago pic.twitter.com/jEbQwqdaNp

“We didn’t get that, and I get it, but we’re nothing different.”
He added:
“Given how I played this week, I think I could have racked up some points for Team USA.”
DeChambeau considers he is playing some of the best golf of his life right now:
“I would say the most consistently good golf of my life. I don’t know if it’s the top-notch but definitely when I shot 58 that was probably the best golf I’ve ever played, and winning the U.S. Open obviously is the ultimate thing. I played the best golf there, too. But I can definitely tell you this little stretch has been pretty sweet for me”
