LeBron James with a heartfelt message to Bronny after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Bronny James has been recovering from a cardiac arrest after enrolling at USC this summer, and his father has spoken out about his progress ahead of the new season.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James posted a positive update about his son Bronny, after he suffered a cardiac arrest in July.
James has achieved almost everything possible in basketball and the family legacy will continue with two talented sons rising from strength to strength. Bronny made headlines earlier this summer when he committed to play for the University of Southern California (USC) during his freshman year of college.
However, the 18-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest during training and was taken to hospital, then admitted to the intensive care unit as tests began to identify the problem. Bronny was later released in stable condition, with LeBron feeling “optimistic” about his health. A statement was released on behalf of James’ family asking for respect and privacy, but LeBron has now issued a new update regarding his son. According to the LA Times, James said:
“Bronny is doing great.” He then added that he plans to dedicate the upcoming season to his son.
The past basketball season was dominated by Victor Wembanyama, with the French giant the most exciting prospect since James himself in 2003. However, more and more members of the James family are arriving and as Bronny signing with USC, it seemed inevitable that another star was on the way.
LeBron also has another younger and more talented son, in which Bryce James also received a lot of attention thanks to his abilities at the high school level. But early in her workout for USC, Bronny passed out and was treated after being taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Bronny is currently recovering and LeBron’s update is positive for the future as he remains a future NBA prospect. And the son of another legend also insisted Bronny will be fine, with Shareef O’Neal – son of former Laker Shaquille – sending his support after experiencing a similar scare.
“He’s fine. I don’t think it will affect anything,” Shareef told TMZ when asked about Bronny. Shareef was also following in his father’s footsteps and looking to make it to the NBA, but underwent open heart surgery in 2018.
While a freshman at UCLA — USC’s rival — Shareef learned he had heart problems and doctors performed major surgery. Shareef made a full recovery, then transferred to LSU to continue playing basketball and believes Bronny will be fine too.
Bronny was not expected to declare for the draft until at least his junior year of college, giving him a few years to properly recover and work on improving his craft ahead of potential selection. Bronny has the best help around him, and LeBron is confident his son will be in a position to achieve his dreams.
