The 2023 Qatar GP is turning out to be another walk in the park for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. He won the race comfortably and secured his sprint title on Saturday. In doing so, Verstappen will also earn big money, earning $25,000,000 on top of his base salary, Autoblog reports.
At the beginning of the season, Verstappen encountered some resistance from teammate Sergio Perez. However, over the years, the distance between him and Perez became increasingly wider. It got to the point where Verstappen’s points alone were enough to seal the constructors’ title for Red Bull.
Of course, any rider would be delighted to win one world championship, let alone three. Verstappen is happy with his championship victory, but one thing that will add to his happiness is the $25,000,000 bonus.
Max Verstappen will receive a huge bonus after winning the title. Last year, Verstappen signed a contract with Red Bull and became the highest-paid F1 driver. His base salary is $50,000,000, but it’s the bonus that really attracts people’s attention. Many sources, including Autoblog, reported that Verstappen would receive an additional $25,000,000 if he won the championship.
Sure enough, Verstappen won this year’s title with five races remaining. Therefore, his total earnings at the end of this season will likely be around $75,000,000. Additionally, Verstappen’s future looks bright as Red Bull shows no signs of slowing down.
So, with his contract valid until 2028, Verstappen will win even more titles. Therefore, he is also expected to receive a bonus of 25,000,000 USD per season, unless someone else breaks Red Bull’s dominance.
Who can break Red Bull’s dominance?
Red Bull has been the most dominant team in F1 since the start of the 2022 season. This year, only one team beat them in a race, and that was Ferrari, led by Carlos Sainz in Singapore. In the coming months, teams will do their best to overthrow the Austrian team next season.
However, the possibility seems low. This is mainly because there won’t really be much in the way of regulation changes, which Red Bull has managed to handle when the current changes come into effect in 2022. Further widespread changes to the sport This sport will take place in 2026. Most of the teams currently struggling behind Red Bull will then be hoping to take advantage and topple them.
