The San Francisco 49ers could have a double injury that hampers their Super Bowl hopes
Week 7 of the NFL season sees the San Francisco 49ers take on the Minnesota Vikings and the NFC West franchise may be without two of his star players due to injury.
The San Francisco 49ers are on track to lose two of their key players to injuries, which will seriously hinder the team in their quest for a Super Bowl championship.
Week seven of the 2023 NFL season sees the Niners hit the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings on “Monday Night Football.” The two teams entered the match at US Bank Stadium with contrasting achievements from the first weeks of the season.
The Niners are 5-1 and lead the NFC West and will be looking for their sixth win of the year. The Vikings are 2-4 and have a chance to move on in the NFC North after losses to the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
However, the Niners will be forced to play without at least one of their star players. Star Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is expected to miss the road game against the Vikings on Monday night.
It was confirmed on Saturday that Samuel will be ruled out of the game against the Vikings with a shoulder injury. Samuel was injured early in the Niners’ loss to the Cleveland Browns on October 15 and did not participate in practice.
Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that after a CT scan, Samuel suffered a hairline fracture in his shoulder. As a result, that means the fifth-year player is out not only for the Vikings but also for their Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals next Sunday — he’s not expected to return again until Week 10, with the Niners in their bye week in Week 9.
“It’s always going to be different (without Samuel),” Shanahan told reporters via the Niners’ team website. “What we did last week, we weren’t sure about him all week, so we had some in reserve.” He also got beaten a few weeks before that, so this will give him a chance to calm down and hopefully get back to 100% (after the bye).”
Another possible player running back Christian McCaffrey is on the sideline. The 27-year-old was scratched in the fourth quarter of the Week 6 loss to the Browns because of an oblique injury.
McCaffrey is confirmed to be questionable for Monday night’s game against the Vikings. However, other reports on ESPN suggest that McCaffrey will be at US Bank Stadium.
McCaffrey participated on a limited basis in Friday’s practice and was able to recover from his injury to play against the Vikings. It remains to be seen what decision the Niners will make regarding their star returner, who is critical to the team’s chances of winning the Super Bowl this season.
