Perez gets support in his home race with specially designed helmet
Sergio Perez will start his home Grand Prix with a special helmet. The Red Bull Racing driver wears a helmet designed by a fan.
Thousands of designs have been submitted after Checo gave fans the chance to have their say on its new helmet. The 33-year-old driver was racing in his country and wanted to make it a special moment. Among the thousands of designs submitted, Perez finally chose the design of Karla Lozano, 22 years old from Mexico.
Why Perez chose this helmet design
“When I saw Karla’s design, I knew I had to put it on my helmet for Mexico. It’s great that the team can connect with the fans like we do here and give them opportunities like “It was hard to make a decision because the entries were so engaging and interesting,” Perez pointed out. Karla’s art is what has put everything together for me and represents Mexico perfectly, there are so many little details and the colors are amazing. I’ve always had México en la Cabeza but this week I’m going to show it off proudly with this unique helmet, I don’t think the pitlane have ever seen a helmet like this before”, Perez speak.
“When I found out I won the tournament, the first thing I did was tell my family that I couldn’t stop smiling; Knowing that my creations will be seen by millions of people is unbelievable and makes me happy and proud. We are all rooting for Checo to win,” concluded the San Nicolas de los Garza winner.
