REPORT: LIV REJECTS JON RAHM AFTER SPAIN IS CITED ‘MAJOR BAN’ FIGURE

British Tour pundit Eddie Pepperell claims Jon Rahm’s  LIV Golf entry numbers are ‘so huge’ that Tournament opponents rejected the Spaniard.

British Tour pro Eddie Pepperell claims LIV Golf has turned down Jon Rahm after the Spaniard told  rival tournaments what it would cost  the Masters champion to leave the PGA Tour.

Speaking in the latest edition of The Chipping Forecast, the golfer said up to 15 top players were approached over the summer and asked what upfront fees they needed to sign  LIV Golf contracts.

LIV have promised high-profile signings ahead of the start of their second-year campaign, but are yet to sign anyone deemed a ‘game changer’.

Sportliteera has looked at 10 potential PGA Tour stars that LIV Golf could try to recruit in the coming weeks and months after Phil Mickelson claimed he knows “more” signings are on the way.

Pepperell told the podcast:
“I heard that Jon Rahm… I heard that LIV  approached 15 players this year to ask them their ballpark figures on what would get them through and I’m told that Rahm’s number was so big that LIV turned it down. So make of it what you will.

Rahm reportedly initially turned down up to $300 million to join LIV.

He is also one of the most famous players to have claimed that PGA Tour stars who rejected LIV should not receive financial compensation after the North American tour announced the 6th bracket agreement /6.

The Spaniard previously explained:
โ€œI stayed because I thought it was the best choice for me and for the golf I wanted to play. We all had the opportunity to go to LIV and win some money and we chose to stay on the PGA Tour for whatever reason we chose. Like I said before, I  make a very good living doing what I do.

Recently, prominent LIV critic Brandel Chamblee confirmed that he is concerned about the possibility of Rahm  joining LIV.

“Rahm makes me a little nervous because he seems open to the idea,” he continued, selling himself. I hope that is the case.โ€
