Rotherham United have parted ways with Matt Taylor – and some name has emerged to replace him.
Rotherham United have parted company with first-team coach Matt Taylor.
He was sacked after a 5-0 defeat to Watford at the weekend, which left them third from bottom in the Championship.
The Millers are four points from safety and their board of directors have decided the time is right to part ways with their manager.
Taylor spent 13 months in his role after leaving Exeter City last October and guided them to safety last season.
A statement released by the club on behalf of club chairman Tony Stewart said: “The board and I feel we need to act now by changing direction to bring again giving us the best possible chance of maintaining our Sky Bet Championship status this season.
โWe are very grateful to Matt for his efforts over the past year and this was no an easy decision. Needless to say, he leaves with the best wishes from everyone at Rotherham United.
Like any managerial sacking, the situation has not yet settled down and there has been discussion about who will take the reins at the New York Stadium.
Our friends at the Rotherham Advertiser have given an update that they have a list of candidates ready, but their identities are yet to be determined.
We can therefore only speculate, but the market is ready to see who will become the next manager of Rotherham. Scroll through the list to see who’s on the list, including the former Bristol Rovers boss, who was recently unemployed, as well as the recently sacked Bristol City boss. All opportunities come from OLBG.
