Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez shock retirements before Sunday’s Las Vegas Grand Prix Charles Leclerc started from pole position in Q2.
Charles Leclerc set the pace in the lead, with teammate Carlos Sainz taking second place in all three qualifying sessions. Sainz must accept a penalty of being demoted 10 places on the starting grid before Sunday’s race.
Max Verstappen only finished third on a track he hates, while McLaren stars Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri withdrew in the first quarter.
Williams had a great Saturday with Alex Albon and Logan Sargent qualifying 6th and 7th.
Hamilton, Perez, Nico Hulkenberg, Lance Stroll and Daniel Ricciardo retired in the second quarter. Norris and Piastri joined Esteban Ocon, Guanyu Chou and Hiroki Tsunoda in the elimination zone from Q1.
Here is a rundown of those all-important qualifying positions.
