Dumped LIV Golf star slams ‘frustrating’ DP World Tour as comeback stifled

Justin Harding is one of several players released by LIV Golf Group, but the South African star currently has limited playing opportunities on the DP World Tour.

Former LIV golf star Justin Harding has joined the DP World Tour after the Wentworth-based club restricted South Africa’s 2024 schedule.

Harding has been plagued by injuries throughout 2023, but is expected to make a full return to golf in the new year.
It’s been a frustrating year for the 36-year-old, who was also released from the LIV golf team after participating in the inaugural season of the Breakaway League in 2022.

His 48 players, one of whom was from South Africa, competed in LIV’s first 54-hole tournament at the Centurion in St.
Albans last summer, followed by the second round in Portland and Bedminster.

Invited to the 2nd and 3rd tournaments.
Harding impressed in his three appearances, securing two top-10 finishes and a tie for 19th place, earning just over £1 million in the process. But that was the case for the South African, as he was left out of the LIV squad in favor of British Open champion Cam Smith.

He was plagued by injuries after leaving the breakaway league, but after a long recovery, he is ready and fired up for 2024. However, the current schedule consists of 15 events for the year.

Harding tweeted: “The new season starts today and I wanted to give you an update on our progress.” I’ve only played 5 DP World Tour events in 3 seasons and 15 months, but it seems like the tour has decided to only give me 15 events next season to keep my card alive.”

The South African went on to reveal that he was also unable to take advantage of Asian Tour events, with the Wentworth setup In the event, he will also not be able to compete in any Asian Tour events and will have to turn his attention to the Challenge Tour instead. “The frustrating thing is that this decision will affect my return to competition,” he added.

“I am currently not allowed to compete on the Asian Tour unless approved and/or additional events are removed from the 15th, so I will probably not play again in some events on the Challenge Tour until February.” I won’t be able to compete.” Good luck to all my friends and fellow golfers who will be playing in my home country in the coming weeks. All the best players, I’ll be back soon.

Amid the setback, Harding received a message of support from fellow pro Pablo Larrazabal, who encouraged him to win soon after his return to increase his playing privileges. “As talented as you are, win your first tournament and get back on the court you deserve,” Larrazabal tweeted to.
