Bryson DeChambeau: OWGR trying to make us irrelevant
“I know their agenda. We know their whole playbook”
LIV Golfer Bryson DeChambeau spoke about the OWGR and the fact that LIV Golf still hasn’t been awarded ranking points during a guest appearance on The Rick Shiels Golf Show podcast. Their application was declined, and many were disappointed by this decision.
Decembeau thinks he knows why people act the way they do. Their goal is to make LIV golf irrelevant. “I think it’s natural how people and organizations view LIV.
I know their agenda.
We know their entire strategy and what they’re going to do. I understand exactly what it is. They try to delay us so long that we become irrelevant. `Oh we’ll give you points now, we’re gonna play nice in the sandbox’
But then we’re all irrelevant. There aren’t even enough points to fill the field.” – Bryson DeChambeau said, Quoted by: golfmonthly.com!
Bryson DeChambeau: What I’m interested in are people who aren’t ranked
The fact that LIV golfers don’t get to play in the biggest tournaments, is what irritate Bryson and other people.
But Bryson seems more concerned about his colleagues than himself. He is happy with the second half of the season, which showed his maturity and quality. But that doesn’t stop him from complaining about what’s currently going on in the golf scene.
“Yes, I feel like I played a lot better golf in the second half of the season, which means I’ve qualified for the last three majors and played reasonably well, finishing 4 at the PGA and British Open I didn’t do very well, the US Open I did ok.
This is what really fascinates me. If I hadn’t had it this year, I probably would have been around 500. So you see, but that’s okay, I hold myself to that standard. Don’t stick to it. I’m not bitter, I don’t care.
What I care about are people who aren’t ranked properly and don’t have a chance to make it to the majors.” – DeChambeau continued. The great golfer gives the example of Joaquin Niemann and feels sorry for him.
Bryson believes Joaquin deserves to play in the majors. As a matter of fact, golfers must be patient and hope that some changes will occur. “I’m in a major. 2020 was a great year for me and I’m lucky that the US Open brought me so much success. But I feel bad for people like Joaquin Niemann who deserve to be there. He’s good enough to play in a major championship.
He’s a top 50 player in the world, doesn’t have that opportunity. Talor Gooch, he won three times this year. If you can’t see past that, I’m sorry, I don’t know how to rationalize with that individual.
It’s not [right], because there’s plenty of guys who play well during the PGA Tour season and don’t play well in Majors, and they’re up there in the top 50.”
