Jon Rahm secures first LIV Golf signing as several stars fight for spots

Jon Rahm made the mega-money move to LIV Golf earlier this month, and the Spaniard is soon to be joined by one of his fellow countrymen.

Jon Rahm is preparing to announce Adri Arnaus as the newest member of his LIV Golf team. Rahm himself recently joined LIV Golf, following in the footsteps of golf legends like Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson.

Arnaus, a fellow Spaniard, is considered the biggest signing for the Saudi-backed league so far. He has reportedly signed a £450 million deal with Greg Norman and the team. As part of the agreement, Rahm has been given the opportunity to form his own LIV team, and it seems Arnaus will be his first signing, according to Spanish outlet Relovo.

Despite his association with Rahm and LIV Golf, Arnaus still intends to continue competing in the DP World Tour next month. He has several important tournaments lined up, including the Dubai Invitational, Dubai Desert Classic, and Ras Al Khaimah Championship.

While LIV players are currently allowed to participate in DP World Tour events, there are consequences. The Wentworth-based circuit has the power to fine and suspend players who choose to compete in LIV events. This has led to the resignation of several Saudi league players from the Tour, including Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, and Sergio Garcia.

The news of Arnaus’ move to LIV Golf comes shortly after LIV CEO Greg Norman revealed that many players were vying for the remaining spots on the roster for 2024.

Norman expressed his excitement about the growing interest in LIV Golf, emphasizing the team spirit and atmosphere that players love. Since Jon Rahm’s signing, many players have expressed their desire to join the team.

“And I have been inundated and my other team members, too, my C-suite within the organisation. I can tell you, hand on my heart, between eight and 12 guys for about two or three spots and maybe two spots, to be honest with you.”
