A close friend of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher has revealed that his wife, Corinna, is steadfastly moving forward with life a decade after his tragic skiing accident, but admitted it’s ‘unfortunate’ that his son Mick hasn’t had a true father-son relationship.
Since the incident in the French Alps on December 29, 2013, the seven-time world champion endured severe head injuries, which resulted in a medically-induced coma.
Although he emerged from the coma the following year, Schumacher, who is now 54, has chosen to stay away from the public eye, and updates on his condition have been scarce.
Former Ferrari chief Jean Todt and Schumacher’s ex-manager Willi Weber have shared statements highlighting the difficulties and transformations the racing legend has encountered since the accident.
Privacy important
Corinna has expressed her determination to continue as a family, honoring Michael’s wishes.
They are moving forward in their lives, but they value their privacy. It’s natural to long for his presence again.
Their son Mick Schumacher, aged 24, has followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a career as a Formula 1 driver, with Corinna’s unwavering support.
According to Herbert, Mick has mentioned that he used to discuss racing with Michael before the accident.
Having his father’s guidance would have been immensely valuable for Mick, fostering a strong father-son bond.
“But Mick never had that, unfortunately. He just had that relationship up until the skiing accident.”
