GOLF FANS CRACK JON RAHM JOKES AFTER LIV GOLF’S £450M MAN SPOTTED AT THE SENTRY
Jon Rahm is reportedly in Hawaii on vacation and has bumped into several PGA Tour pros who are playing The Sentry in Kapalua.
In ordinary circumstances Jon Rahm would be defending his title at The Sentry.
But Rahm went to LIV and is currently suspended by the PGA Tour.
Nevertheless, it has been reported that the Spaniard is vacationing in Hawaii this week with his wife Kelley Cahill and has run into a number of Tour players.
As stated by Tron Carter of No Laying Up in their most recent podcast, “Everyone’s saying Rahm skipped Kapalua this year.”
“By all accounts he’s actually there. He’s staying at Kapalua this week and last week.”
He added: “I’ve not got a picture but I’ve got several eyewitness accounts.”
Co-host D.J. Piehowski offered: “If that’s true that’s, like, one of the more sociopathic examples of behaviour in our time.”
Of course a number of golf fans also saw the funny side to reports Rahm is in Hawaii.
“His whole life is a vacation right now,” one wrote on X. Another added: “Recruitment season is open.”
Another made a Jeffrey Epstein joke: “Rough time to be posting about island encounters.”
He is said to have signed a deal that is worth £450m, although that figure has not been substantiated.
Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka are two LIV players who have confirmed their lucrative signing-on fees for joining the rival league.
Rahm’s decision to join LIV was a seismic moment but now figures from both sides are suggesting his defection will ultimately bring the game back together.
Rory McIlroy recently hailed Rahm’s switch as a ‘smart business move’ after making the astonishing admission he would consider being part of the breakaway tour should it turn into ‘the IPL of golf’.
Mickelson responded to McIlroy’s latest comments by saying it was now time for everyone to put aside their grievances to navigate a path forwards in men’s professional golf.
“This quote and the many others made today by Rory probably weren’t easy to say,” he wrote.
“This isn’t the time to add insult to injury. Instead, it’s time for me to put an end to my animosity with others and work toward a brighter future.
Greg Norman also expressed the same opinions as Mickelson.
Regarding Rahm, it is still unknown if he will have a team of his own in LIV.
Since Rahm joined, the rival league has not made any announcements regarding new hires.
Next month in Mexico, the current Masters champion will make his LIV debut.
