Tyrrell Hatton is reportedly concerned he will fall out of the top-50 of the OWGR if he leaves the PGA Tour and DP World Tour for LIV Golf, per a report.
Tyrrell Hatton has agreed terms with LIV but his move is being delayed over the fact he is contracted to Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’ indoor golf league, according to a report.
Hatton, 32, confirmed he had been approached by LIV Golf at the Dubai Desert Classic.
His answer about whether he would consider joining the Saudi-backed breakaway contrasted with England’s Tommy Fleetwood.
Whilst Fleetwood said once again he told LIV it was a firm no, Hatton appeared more open to the idea of leaving the establishment.
“As of right now, yeah,” he replied when asked if he was happy plying his trade on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
Per Telegraph Sport, it is understood that Hatton was reluctant to join LIV over fears he would drop outside the top 50 players in the OWGR and lose eligibility for golf’s four major championships.
Hatton is currently ranked No.16 in the world but as we have seen from other golfers that have made the leap their fall down the OWGR has been swift and unrelenting.
For example, Bryson DeChambeau was ranked inside the top-10 when he joined the breakaway two years ago but he is now 164th in the world.
Hatton is also contracted to TGL, the planned indoor golf league created by Woods and McIlroy’s TMRW Sports.
TGL’s launch was delayed until 2025 because of damage to the Florida arena.
The Englishman is part of McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf outfit. Adam Scott and Keegan Bradley are also in the side.
According to the Independent, once the contractual issue is resolved then Hatton will be announced as a LIV player, joining Jon Rahm’s team.

Days before Rahm was officially announced as a LIV player, his player profile was scrubbed.
Furthermore, there are reports suggesting that Anthony Kim is considering making a comeback to the world of men’s professional golf. Kim played his last round on the PGA Tour in 2012 before vanishing from professional golf when he was only 26 years old.
He took advantage of an insurance policy that caused his career to end prematurely, but he now thinks it is the right time to come back.
It is uncertain where Kim will ultimately go, if the statement is confirmed.
It is reasonable to assume that he would attract interest from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
