DP World Tour pro Pablo Larrazabal appeared to take the bait after a parody account claimed Justin Thomas took a cheap shot at Patrick Reed.
Pablo Larrazabal, a professional golfer on the DP World Tour, was advised to take a break from social media due to his seemingly falling for a fake account on X platform.
On Thursday, the PGA Tour made a post asserting that Justin Thomas made a disrespectful comment about Patrick Reed, coinciding with reports that Adrian Meronk from Poland has agreed to join LIV Golf.
Meronk notified his absence due to illness prior to the Farmers Insurance Open. Despite his manager confirming the sickness to Telegraph Sport, it seems that he will soon join LIV Golf as their newest signee.
Tyrrell Hatton is also reportedly on the verge of joining the rival league and apparently the deal is being held up as he is contracted to Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’ indoor golf league, TGL.
Remarkably, injury-ridden Anthony Kim is also being linked with a sensational return to the sport after a 12-year absence.
Wrote the parody account: “Justin Thomas commented on Adrian Meronk’s departure from the PGA saying: ‘The PGA losing Adrian is like Patrick Reed losing 10 pounds. It’s not really making a difference.'”
And Larrazabal, the World No. 94, responded: “If he really said that, he never player with Adrian, one of the best ball strikers in the world of golf at the moment… he got lucky he didn’t play Ryder Cup, the difference would be bigger.”
Since its establishment in 2022, there have been strong indications that Hovland, aged 26, could potentially join the Saudi-supported LIV Golf League, creating a prominent association.
Hovland expressed in 2023 that he was open to the possibility of joining LIV Golf, stating that no options were being dismissed.
In the past few weeks, the rumors have gained more momentum, particularly because Hovland has chosen not to participate in a couple of events at the beginning of the year. To add to the speculation, LIV Golf has not announced their final signings for their upcoming first event.
