Jon Rahm has confirmed his 2023 European Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton has joined his LIV Golf League side ‘Legion XIII’.
Jon Rahm has confirmed his 2023 European Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton will join his LIV Golf side.
Rahm, who is 29 years old, publicly declared the news on January 30th, just a few days prior to the beginning of the 2024 season in Mayakoba, Mexico.
At the last moment, the current Masters champion convinced Hatton, who is currently ranked 16th in the world, to join his LIV team, as it seems.
It is reported that the English golfer, who has achieved success in various competitions on the DP World Tour and emerged victorious in the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour, has allegedly reached an agreement with the rebel tour for a contract valued at around £50m.
Rahm had tried to lure 2023 U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark to LIV as well, but that deal fell through. He also targeted Tony Finau.
Rahm is said to have agreed a deal worth £450m when he joined LIV last December in a move which shook the world of men’s professional golf and triggered alarm bells in the corridors of power.
The PGA Tour are still continuing their talks with LIV Golf’s financiers – Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund – and the most recent update suggests the North American circuit is primed for a $3bn cash injection from Strategic Sports Group.
How that affects the Tour’s talks with the PIF remains to be seen.
Rahm has additionally verified the inclusion of Caleb Surratt, a gifted young American, to his LIV team. Kieran Vincent, who graduated from LIV Golf Promotions, has joined as anticipated.
Vincent is Scott Vincent’s younger sibling, and he also participates in LIV events as a member of Kevin Na’s IronHeads. On 31 January, it is anticipated that Rahm will hold a press conference.
