Lando Norris shows true colours with immediate reaction to Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton has made a shock decision to leave Mercedes in favour of joining Ferrari in 2025.

McLaren driver Lando Norris has shared his surprise at the news that Lewis Hamilton will reportedly leave Mercedes in 2025 so that he can join Ferrari. The Brit signed a two-year contract with the Silver Arrows last year but appears to have made the decision to bow out his career elsewhere

For the past year, there have been consistent rumors connecting Hamilton to Ferrari, as his performance with Mercedes has been disappointing recently. He has been unable to effectively challenge Max Verstappen for the Drivers’ Championship.

Hamilton, aged 39, allegedly engaged in discussions with Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, regarding a potential move; however, in the end, Mercedes managed to convince him to prolong his tenure with the team for an additional two years.

However, it is growing increasingly unlikely that the seven-time world champion will actually see out his contract with the team as an agreement is in place which will see him join up with Ferrari next year.

The news has sent shockwaves through Formula One, with fans and those within the sport equally stunned by Hamilton’s decision. McLaren’s Norris has shared his surprise with his 2.5million followers on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response to a tweet from Oscar Piastri.

Piastri jokingly tweeted: “Just been for a run. Have I missed anything?”, to which Norris replied with a video of himself making a surprised face during an interview last season.

The tweet has been viewed by over 100,000 users, with many responding to share how they are also shocked by how Hamilton has opted to swap Brackley for Maranello. It remains to be seen how Mercedes and Ferrari opt to announce the Brit’s decision to switch teams, though many are excited to see how the next years pan out and the manner in which Hamilton bows out with Mercedes.

David Croft, a commentator for Sky Sports, is among those who are happy to see Hamilton finally join Ferrari, writing on X: “To Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton!” I’ve always believed that it will happen eventually, and it looks like 2025 will be the year. Similar to when Lewis joined Mercedes, it was a seismic move, and at that point, I didn’t see any drawbacks. However, on the day of the transfer deadline, whoa—certainly the biggest transfer!”
