The 15-time Major winner dropped yet another hint on his potential new apparel line, with an announcement seemingly set for Monday.
Woods is scheduled to hold the Genesis Invitational at Riviera next week, and he has also revealed his participation in the tournament.
This will be his first appearance in a PGA Tour event since April.
However, one of the most important inquiries revolves around the logo that the 15-time major champion will display on his hat, shirt, and glove.
On Saturday, the host of the tournament shared a mysterious tweet, which marked his second tweet of the week, providing the most significant clue regarding his upcoming intentions.
Woods’ Saturday tweet read, “A new day rises. 2.12.24,” accompanied by an image of a heavily shadowed Woods, clad in his typical Sunday attire of a red shirt, black pants and black hat.
The logo on his hat was cropped out and so too was the one that usually adorns the chest of his polo. That’s important because Woods and longtime apparel partner Nike announced a parting of ways last month.
However, what wasn’t cropped out was Woods’ left hand and glove, which throughout the entirety of his professional career has displayed the Nike Swoosh. However, the glove Woods sports in the photo just shows off the edge of a new logo.
TaylorMade, the company that manufactures Woods’ clubs, recently filed a trademark that seems to be reflected in the logo.
Last month, after news broke of Woods’ split with Nike, images of the trademark filing circulated, further suggesting that the logo matches those images.
According to a report by GOLF’s Josh Sens, TaylorMade Lifestyle Ventures LLC has already submitted applications to the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a brand called Sunday Red, which is consistent with the logo.
Woods then confirmed an announcement coming Monday with the tweet last Tuesday that read simply, “The vision remains the same. 2.12.24,” along with a close-up of Woods’ face.
After undergoing ankle surgery in April and withdrawing from the Masters, he revealed his plans to participate in the Genesis tournament, marking his return to the PGA Tour.
His participation in the competition has been announced, and his recent tweet displaying a logo corresponding to the recently filed trademark strongly suggests that Woods will introduce his new brand, Sunday Red, during the Genesis event next week.
“Nevertheless, we will need to wait until Monday to ascertain the accuracy of the information.”
