Red Bull are investigating Christian Horner over allegations of inappropriate behaviour.
According to reports, Red Bull may accelerate the investigation into Christian Horner’s behavior to reach a conclusion by the end of next week. The 50-year-old is currently under investigation for alleged misconduct, which he strongly denies.
A female colleague filed a complaint with Red Bull’s parent company in Austria. A Dutch newspaper has recently made a new accusation that could worsen the crisis at Red Bull right before the new season begins.
The reigning champions are now aiming to resolve the situation in the next few days, as Red Bull’s leaders want to speed up the investigation process.
It was previously mentioned that the investigation could continue until after the Bahrain Grand Prix next month, with Horner probably facing more rounds of questioning after being interrogated by a top lawyer last week. Nonetheless, there is now an intention within Red Bull to wrap up the investigation as soon as possible.
Horner, who has been at Red Bull since they entered F1 in 2005, is thought to have instructed lawyers to assist him in contesting the new allegation. However, the accusation is said to have done little to ease the uncertainty over his future, which is reportedly hanging in the balance.
In a statement earlier this month, Red Bull said they were taking the investigation process ‘extremely seriously’ and that a conclusion would be reached ‘as soon as practicable’.
“After becoming aware of recent allegations, the company initiated an independent investigation,” the statement read. “This investigation, which is already underway, is being carried out by an external specialised lawyer.
“The company takes these matters extremely seriously and the investigation will be complete as soon as practicable. It would not be appropriate to make any further comments at this time
During Red Bull’s season launch event on Thursday, Horner was asked about his future and stated that he has received immense support from the business, partners, and industry. Currently, there is an ongoing process where certain accusations have been made against me, which I strongly refute.
I am following this process and will continue to do so until it is completed. Red Bull’s stance is that everything is operating as usual.
The accusations are being investigated by Red Bull, and they have validated this process externally. However, there is still work to be done, and I completely reject the accusations that have been made against me. I will continue in my role.
