Joaquin Niemann and Louis Oosthuizen take their teams to the season-opening International Series Oman this week.
Two LIV Golf League teams will tee it up alongside each other for the first time at the season-opening International Series Oman.
This week, all players from Torque GC and Stinger GC will compete at a prestigious event on the Asian Tour.
The talented South American golfers from Torque GC, Joaquin Niemann, Sebastian Munoz, Mito Pereira, and Carlos Ortiz, will team up with Stinger GC’s South African players Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Branden Grace, and Dean Burmester at the Al Mouj Golf from February 22 to 25.
The International Series Oman occurs a week before the LIV Golf Jeddah event and provides players with the opportunity to acquire important Official World Golf Ranking points.
Niemann, captain of Torque GC, won the season-opening LIV Golf Mayakoba event in Mexico earlier this month having shot a 59 in the first round.
He also won the ISPS Handa Australian Open in December.
Niemann said: “The International Series events are big for me right now. It will be a lot of help to play good there, get some points, and try to get into the majors.”
He added: “It will be nice to be playing against each other at Oman for the first tournament, we’re looking forward to it. Hopefully, we get a nice Sunday where we’re going to all play together. It’ll be cool.”
Captain Oosthuizen and his South African teammates from Stinger GC are hoping to regain their form in Oman.
Former Open champion Oosthuizen expressed his excitement about their upcoming tournaments in Jeddah and Hong Kong, leading them to plan a full trip including both events.
“You can create a suitable schedule to practice before the LIV events in order to improve your performance.” Those additional events before the season are crucial, in my opinion.
Oosthuizen’s fellow team member and former Masters champion Schwartzel also expressed his agreement, stating that he enjoys preparing for tournaments by participating in events like the International Series Oman before a LIV event as it helps him refine his skills.
