LOUIS OOSTHUIZEN MAKES MASTERS CONCESSION, BLASTS UNRESOLVED LIV GOLF PROBLEM

Louis Oosthuizen has conceded he will miss playing in the Masters and criticised the OWGR for not recognising the breakaway LIV Golf League.

Louis Oosthuizen has conceded he’s made peace with not playing major championship golf anymore as he opened up about the likely prospect of missing his first Masters since 2008.

The South African golfer, who was previously ranked as high as number four in the Official World Golf Ranking, has now dropped to 137th place.

Certainly, the decrease in performance can be attributed to the previous Open champion’s choice to leave the traditional golf associations and become a part of the profitable LIV Golf League.

Oosthuizen would have to find a way to move up into the top 50 of the OWGR in order to qualify for the Masters at Magnolia Lane just before the tournament begins.

“Before this week’s International Series Oman, Oosthuizen informed Gulf News that joining LIV Golf was a decision he anticipated.”

Oosthuizen is part of a group of LIV players who have traveled to the Arabian Peninsula.    He went on to say that he had anticipated a time when he would no longer be able to compete in a tournament such as Augusta.

To be completely honest, I find the current length of the golf course challenging as I am struggling to navigate it.    In comparison to 2009 and 2010, there are now more seven woods and three irons used on par 4s at the golf course.

The speaker will miss this experience as they believe it is truly remarkable.

“I believe the golf course is fantastic and the tournament is great, but personally, I find the course to be too long for my current skill level.”

Oosthuizen has expressed concerns about the lack of recognition by the OWGR among the LIV Golf members.

Greg Norman found the situation ridiculous, but a professional golfer on the PGA Tour disagreed with the Australian’s perspective.

Oosthuizen is grateful that he can still participate in the Open Championship, however, he thinks it is regrettable that LIV players are not receiving the recognition they deserve.

He said: ”  Knowing that I wouldn’t receive any World Ranking points, I decided to join LIV Golf.

“I have accepted that I may not play in professional baseball, but I am grateful to still be able to participate in the Open.

It is disappointing to witness talented players not receiving the recognition they deserve, and I hope that the Official World Golf Ranking can address this issue promptly.”

“I believe a complete overhaul of the entire system is necessary.

If they are unwilling to award World Ranking points for LIV Golf, then they should consider revising the system to allocate spots for Majors on every tour globally, or a similar alternative.”

“I’m amazed by the extensive experience those individuals have in serving on boards and carrying out their tasks.

It’s hard for me to accept that there is no resolution to the problem.”
