RORY MCILROY RESPONDS TO WHETHER OR NOT HE IS GOING TO LIV GOLF SOON

“He might know a few things” – Rory McIlroy responds to his former manager’s comments linking him with a move to LIV Golf.

Rory McIlroy made a lighthearted comment about his former manager Chubby Chandler possibly having inside information after Chandler’s recent statements in the media suggesting McIlroy could be leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf this year.

McIlroy was talking to the press before the upcoming Cognizant Classic at The Palm Beaches, previously known as the Honda Classic that he won in 2012.

During his press conference, McIlroy responded to comments made by Talor Gooch from LIV Golf about his Masters performance.

Gooch had made a remark about an “asterisk” being attached to McIlroy’s win.  .

McIlroy was also pressed on whether he could soon join Gooch over on the Saudi-bankrolled LIV Golf League.

That was after McIlroy’s former manager Chubby Chandler told Bunkered last week there was a “10% possibility he’s favouring his way to sign for LIV Golf.”

McIlroy smiled and said:

“I think he’s writing a book, so there is that. I spoke to Chubby, might have saw him in the Middle East at the start of the year. Never know. He might know a few things. Who knows.”
A reporter then asked him if there was any truth to the “10%” chance.

McIlroy replied:

Somewhere in the middle maybe. Who knows.”

If McIlroy decides to join the LIV Golf League, he could potentially receive about $1 billion as an offer.

According to reports, the amount offered to Jon Rahm this season is $400,000 higher than what he accepted last season.

At the conclusion of 2023, McIlroy stated that he had never received a formal invitation to join LIV.

Chandler recently interviewed with GolfMagic and mentioned that McIlroy has made a remarkable shift in his opinions about LIV Golf in 2024.

He also shared with us his thoughts on the obstacles preventing McIlroy from achieving the career grand slam at The Masters.

Could you see McIlroy ever leaving the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf?
