KEEGAN BRADLEY’S UTTERLY BRUTAL 2023 RYDER CUP REJECTION TAKES A NEW TWIST
Fresh details have emerged about Keegan Bradley’s rejection for the United States side at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, Italy.
“We believed we were aware of all the specific information regarding Keegan Bradley’s devastating exclusion from the Ryder Cup.”
We were so mistaken.
Bradley ended the previous season with a strong performance on the PGA Tour, winning the Travelers Championship and ultimately coming in ninth in the FedEx Cup standings.
“He also won the ZOZO Championship in Japan and, due to his strong desire to represent his country, it appeared likely that he would be selected.”
Given that star players like Justin Thomas were experiencing difficulties with their performance, the likelihood of that outcome appeared even more probable.
Bradley had previously disclosed that the heartbreaking moment had been recorded on film by the Netflix cameras.
He believed that with the cameras en route, the update from Captain Zach Johnson would likely be positive.
“This is the way Bradley recounted the story to Barstool Sports in the past.”
“I got a text from Zach, ‘Hey, guys, Iām going to be calling everybody tomorrow morning.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, shit, I got another night now of sweating this out.’ I wake up, I’m very tired, and I get a call from Netflix and they say, ‘Keegan, we got a camera crew five minutes from your house.’ Why would they be sending a camera crew if I’m not going to get picked? For the first time, I let my brain think I did it. Why would they be rushing a camera crew to my house?”
But he missed out probably the most brutal part.
The executive producer of Netflix “Full Swing”, Chad Mumm, added some more details in a recent interview with Golfweek.
Mumm explained that the crew in fact went to the wrong house when they were on their way to film the call with Bradley.
He told the publication: “I had to call him and be like, ‘Is this your address?’ and he’s like, ‘No, it’s one house over.’
“We’d been there before, but it just got misprinted on the call sheet.”
They arrived perfectly timed. The rest of the story is known to you.
As Mumm put it, “It’s crushing to see.” However, he manages it like a pro.
“To be able to be both superhuman and that vulnerable at the same time… He really is amazing. It has such strength.”
At the end, Johnson’s Ryder Cup team lost to the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy, by a margin of five points.
Season two of “Full Swing” on Netflix launches on March 6.
