The Red Bull F1 operation has been embroiled in off-track issues over the past month.
“Sergio Perez emphasized that the issue involving Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and the consequences within the team have been resolved and put in the past.” Last month, Red Bull GmbH initiated an investigation into Horner after receiving reports of misconduct. However, the investigation was closed before the Bahrain Grand Prix.
“After purported evidence surfaced through an anonymous email tip, conflicts within the Red Bull team became evident publicly when Jos Verstappen, father of Max Verstappen, indicated that there could be potential turmoil if Horner continued to hold his position.”
However, speaking to media including RacingNews365 about the ongoing turbulence, Perez said: “Well I think it is now all behind us.
“We are a race team at the end of the day and we are here to race and focus to deliver on track.
“Off-track, doing the work with the team at home, you have to remember Red Bull is a huge team and our main focus is on the racing side, simple as that.”
Perez’s ‘main objective’
On whether any assurances had been given by Red Bull’s management following the fallout, Perez added: “We basically speak about the racing side.
“We know this is behind us and I appreciate it is the team principal and the CEO and everything will keep going like it’s been before.
“To be honest, we have been mainly speaking about the race in Bahrain, how it went and how we can improve.
“That’s been the main focus for all of us.”
Despite the off-track controversies taking up media attention, Red Bull Racing managed to secure a one-two finish in Bahrain with Verstappen leading Perez.
The Mexican referenced this form when questioned about the impact of the issues surrounding Horner on the team. He highlighted that the team had just achieved a one-two finish and a strong start to the season.
The team is currently working on various areas for improvement that were identified in the previous race in Bahrain. This is their main focus and priority at the moment.
In my opinion, my main focus is on improving upon our performance in Bahrain, as that is our primary goal. .”
