RORY MCILROY SMASHES TEE BOX MARKER TO PIECES IN EXPLOSIVE TANTRUM AT BAY HILL
Rory McIlroy explodes by smashing tee box marker to pieces at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
In the third round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Rory McIlroy was observed breaking a tee box marker on the 8th hole.
As McIlroy approached the tee box on the par-4 8th hole, he had recently made a bogey on the 7th hole and was expressing his frustration at the lack of birdies he had achieved during his round.
“Seconds after hitting his TaylorMade Qi10 Fairway Wood, McIlroy immediately regretted the direction in which his ball was traveling.”
While the ball was soaring through the air, McIlroy glanced down at the tee box marker on the left and made a gesture as if he was going to throw his club directly at it.
He then did it again.
As the camera picked out McIlroy’s ball in the rough, we then heard a loud smash.
McIlroy had taken out the right tee box marker as he trudged over to his golf bag.
The tee box was smashed to pieces, as you can see in the video below.

McIlroy then bogeyed the 8th hole and finished the first half of the round with a score of 2-over par.
However, he regained his composure in the second half of the round and managed to score six birdies, bringing his overall score to 5-under par for the tournament.
“That resulted in McIlroy closing the gap to just four shots behind the leader as they entered the last round.”
McIlroy was the first player in nearly two decades to successfully drive the par-4 10th hole at Bay Hill during the third round. McIlroy is still aiming to win his first PGA Tour championship since the Genesis Scottish Open in July of last year.
The golfer from Northern Ireland has not been performing at his best this season.
However, he is optimistic that his performance will improve in the upcoming weeks as he aims to achieve the career grand slam at The Masters, taking place from 11-14 April.
