Paul Casey aimed a dig at his LIV Golf captain Bryson DeChambeau after the American deserted the Englishman at a news conference in Hong Kong.
Paul Casey stated that Bryson DeChambeau had no valid reasons for missing a LIV Golf press conference in Hong Kong.
Casey made an impressive bunker shot on his last hole of the day to tie with Abraham Ancer and Cameron Smith and take the match to a playoff.
However, it was Ancer who came out as the winner after hitting a precise shot into the first playoff hole, allowing him to make an easy birdie putt.
However, Casey had a reason to feel happy because the Crushers emerged victorious in the team competition and were able to divide the grand prize of $3,000,000.
The Crushers won their second consecutive event following their unexpected victory in Jeddah last week.
Not surprisingly, Casey, DeChambeau, Charles Howell III, and Anirban Lahiri are currently leading the team standings after four LIV events. After his close call, Casey entered the media industry, without any sight of his fellow team members.
The Englishman apologized on behalf of his team, explaining that Charles Howell and Nicky’s caddie both have flights at around 7:30pm.
“I have no knowledge of Bryson’s whereabouts. He cannot provide any excuses.” “Although there was some criticism, Casey had only good things to say about his team and their leader.”
“It was mentioned by him that we each have unique approaches not just in playing golf, but also in our weekly preparation and other aspects,” he stated.
“There’s not a lot of similarities or similar traits. But I think that’s what’s beautiful about it.”
Casey continued: “We spoke after we won the championship last year. I’ve had some experience with team golf.
“Bryson has been a bloody good captain, and I think part of being a good captain is letting guys do what they do best in order to — go do what you need to do in order to play the best golf. He doesn’t necessarily try to control us.”
LIV’s next event will take place in Miami at Trump National Doral over 5-7 April.
