SHOCK ALERT! RORY MCILROY DISAGREES WITH PGA TOUR STARS AHEAD OF THE PLAYERS

Rory McIlroy has given PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan his full backing despite some golfers suggesting he might not be the right man for the job.

Rory McIlroy advised PGA Tour players to consider the broader perspective as he expressed his full support for commissioner Jay Monahan.

“McIlroy was feeling positive and upbeat as he prepared for the 50th Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.”

He showed this when he commented on Scottie Scheffler’s ability to make successful putts after struggling for months on the greens.

“I definitely won’t be offering him any more tips,” McIlroy humorously told reporters, regarding suggesting the world’s top player try a mallet putter. Naturally, the focus immediately turned to the expected subject: the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.

At this point, McIlroy’s emotions are evident: he wishes the train would move faster to finish the task quickly.

Monahan, as mentioned earlier, addressed the media on 12 March after a period of over six months without doing so.

During a 50-minute press conference, Monahan:

  • Admitted he would have handled the PGA Tour-PIF announcement differently
  • Claimed the Tour will be able to deliver a return on SSG’s $1.5bn investment
  • The Tour’s negotiations with the PIF are ‘accelerating’
  • Anthony Kim negotiations were held
  • He believes he is the right man to lead the Tour forward
