WATCH: Rory Mcllorry told he should face fine for ripping up green at $20m PGA Tour event….

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy had another frustrating week on the PGA Tour at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill.

“Is it fair to say that Rory McIlroy may have been disappointed with how he played at the Arnold Palmer Invitational?”

“McIlroy entered the prominent PGA Tour tournament after experiencing average outcomes, despite beginning his season impressively in the Middle East.”    “He had to struggle to qualify, but in the usual McIlroy style, he unexpectedly scored a 68 on the moving day to put himself in contention.”

McIlroy may have appeared confident in his prospects, given that he was only trailing world number one Scottie Scheffler by five points.

However, the beginning of the Northern Irishman’s Sunday at Bay Hill was disastrous as he was an impressive 5-over par at the halfway point.

His frustration became clear from the beginning, and he eventually released his anger by causing minor damage to the edge of the golf green on the third hole.    “That occurred following his missed 11-foot putt for par on the right side of the hole.”

To be fair, the tantrum was relatively mild compared to his previous round, during which he was caught on camera destroying a tee box marker.    McIlroy was not the only player who was a bit frustrated with his performance.

Wyndham Clark was also filmed slamming his wedge into the turf after chunking a chip early on in the third round.

Clark was later accused of playing fast and loose with the rules. He denied cheating.

It is now common for players to angrily destroy a golf course out of anger.

“Not suitable for beginners and educational programs.”    After watching the video of McIlroy tearing up the green, many golf enthusiasts were unhappy.

One person on X stated that if Mr. Palmer were alive, he would receive a strongly worded letter.    Another person commented that it is time for stricter consequences for his actions, suggesting that fines are not significant for individuals with high net worth.    “McIlroy finished in a tie for 21st after posting a final round of 4-over 76.”

Aside from the rain-soaked AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McIlroy has placed in the top 25 in his most recent three PGA Tour appearances.

McIlroy’s next tournament is the highly anticipated Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He emerged victorious at the Players in 2019.
