WATCH: FURIOUS (!) RICKIE FOWLER YELLS AT SPECTATOR DURING PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP
Rickie Fowler was filmed getting hot under the collar with a spectator during the third round of the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
During the third round of the Players Championship, Rickie Fowler, a professional golfer with numerous wins on the PGA Tour, was caught on camera showing his annoyance towards a fan.
The American came close to not qualifying for the $25 million main event.
Despite this, Fowler still had a significant amount of money to potentially win, motivating him to give his best effort to climb up the leaderboard.
Regrettably, Fowler’s efforts to improve his score were disrupted by an incident with a spectator at the 16th hole. Those who saw the complete interaction reported that Fowler’s caddie requested the individual to silence their phone.
Based on Fowler’s response, it appears that the spectator did not comply and disrupted the golfer while he was in the middle of his swing. As soon as Fowler hit his tee shot and it left the tee box, he quickly turned to a spectator and shouted, “Hey you! What are you up to?”
Fowler’s caddie, Ricky Romano, was overheard saying: “Let’s go, I just mentioned something.”
Fowler was clearly affected by the exchange, leading to him making a double bogey on the hole by hitting his second shot into the water on the par-5. Fowler then went on to take the next shot in the hazard.
He hit the ball a second time and it landed very close to the hole, only a few inches away. Then, he finished the hole by successfully putting the ball in the hole in seven strokes.
