REPORT: AJGA TAKE ACTION AFTER TIGER WOODS’ SON SUBJECTED TO ‘UNRULY BEHAVIOUR’
Armed police are reportedly on site as Charlie Woods prepares to make his debut in the in the American Junior Golf Association on a sponsor’s invite.
Tiger Woods’ son Charlie Woods is making his AJGA debut this week.
Charlie, who turned 15 in February, has received a sponsor’s invite to compete in the Will Lowery Junior Championships.
Tiger was seen at Carolina Trace Country Club cheering on Charlie in his first competition on the circuit he excelled in during his youth.”
The athlete with 15 major championships had to hurriedly return from the Bahamas to attend the event following confidential discussions with LIV Golf chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan.”
Charlie’s participation in the competition has generated a lot of attention from both the media and fans, which comes as no surprise.
And according to reports, armed police are at the entrance and thoroughly checking ID’s before issuing badges.
The move is more than likely a response to the behaviour Charlie was subjected to in February as he attempted to get into his first PGA Tour event.
Charlie played in a pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic and things didn’t go to plan as he shot a 16-over par 86.
But his round was marred by unruly fan behaviour at Lost Lake Golf Club.
According to a detailed report by the Palm Beach Post:
*Fans walked alongside Charlie in the fairway, ignoring requests by tournament officials to stay back
*A woman admitted to pulling her grandaughter out of school in the hopes of Charlie noticing her
*A fan reportedly demanded Charlie sign a copy of his father’s book ‘How I Play Golf’
I hope Charlie’s most recent tournament goes smoothly without any interruptions.
Charlie is in the early stages of his junior career and mainly competes in tournaments on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour and the Junior PGA South Florida Tour.
“He has already emerged victorious in one competition and, similar to his father during his peak, easily secured an eight-shot win.”
“Charlie gained superiority over his father by winning a high school state golf championship with the Benjamin School boys team in November.”
Tiger did not achieve a state championship during his childhood.
