JUSTIN THOMAS MISSES TWO-FOOTER EN ROUTE TO WORST PUTTING ROUND OF HIS CAREER

Justin Thomas’ putter was about as useful as a chocolate teapot during the third round of the Valspar Championship.

During the third round of the Valspar Championship, Justin Thomas had the worst putting performance he has ever experienced in his professional career. This was highlighted by a missed putt from just two feet.

Thomas, who is 30 years old, appeared visibly frustrated at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort on Saturday when his putting game suddenly faltered.

The golfer, who has won two major championships, made a birdie putt from 2.9 feet on the first hole, but after that, his performance declined significantly.

He struggled with his putting, losing a total of 7.034 strokes to the field.

Thomas finished day three having taken 38 putts, equating to a measly 22 feet 10 inches.

Having holed the 2.9 footer on the 1st hole, JT had a share for the lead on a packed leaderboard, but what followed will be tough to forget for the multiple PGA Tour winner.

He ended up carding an 8-over 79, which is his worst score of 2024 by four shots and his worst outing since he handed in an 82 at The Open at Royal Liverpool last summer.

His round featured seven bogeys and a double, which included a three-putt from 13 feet and a painful 360-lip out that was reminiscent of Wyndham Clark’s final hole heartbreak at the Players Championship.

Having struggled with his game for most of 2023, Thomas has already put in some notable performances this season, with a T3 at the American Express and a T6 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am being the standout results.

Thomas is currently ranked 10th on the PGA Tour for his performance in strokes gained tee to green, indicating his exceptional ball striking abilities. However, his ranking drops significantly when it comes to putting, showing a decline in that aspect of his game.

Thomas is currently ranked 149th on the PGA Tour when it comes to strokes gained putting. On average, he is losing just over half a shot per round compared to the rest of the field.

After struggling with his putting on Sunday, Thomas ended the week at the bottom of the leaderboard for strokes gained putting, losing 4.977 shots throughout the tournament. Thomas completed the tournament with a score of three over par, after playing rounds of 68, 69, 79, and 71.
