Phil Mickelson dealt Masters blow as statement on his brother causes golf shockwaves
Phil Mickelson has confirmed that tweaks to his team have been made, including his brother Tim.
Phil Mickelson’s Masters preparations have hit a snag as he looks for a new caddie just two weeks before the big tournament. He and his brother Tim are parting ways after eight years of teamwork.
Mickelson expressed his emotions on social media by expressing gratitude to his brother for the time they spent together.
In a post, he acknowledged the invaluable experience of achieving great accomplishments in his career and the special bond he shares with his brother Tim.
Mickelson mentioned the changes they have gone through, particularly Tim, who now has a family.
According to Mickelson, Tim has found his life partner, Maranda, and they have welcomed their second son.
Mickelson expressed hope that their family will expand in the future. Although Tim is stepping away from being a caddy, I will always treasure the numerous wonderful moments we have experienced on the golf course and I am excited for more memorable moments to come outside of it.”
The family pair has experienced significant moments throughout their career filled with prestigious awards. In May 2021, the two joined forces successfully, leading Mickelson to make history as the oldest champion at the PGA Championship.
Tim expressed his excitement about their win by saying, “This is really great.” Winning any competition is always significant, but achieving a major title at this point in his career brought tears to my eyes for the first time since I started caddying for him four and a half years ago.
Tim also added that in his opinion, the player’s determination and drive to win are currently at their peak.
“Definitely, his skill level has likely increased since I began working as his caddy. His passion for playing golf and competing remains unchanged from his college days.”
He has a strong passion for competition, particularly at a high level like this. He also enjoys competing at home, even if he has several handicaps to contend with.” “He thoroughly enjoys facing off against others in a game of golf.”
Mickelson needs a new partner for the upcoming LIV Miami event next week and the Masters tournament at Augusta National the following week. Mickelson is among 14 players from the breakaway circuit going to the first major tournament of the year.
The number of players from the league participating in the tournament has decreased because they are not officially recognized in the Official World Golf Ranking system.
Mickelson will be competing alongside Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and defending champion Jon Rahm.
