RORY MCILROY TO JOIN LIV GOLF, CAM SMITH BINS MULLET… IT CAN ONLY BE APRIL 1ST
Rory McIlroy to LIV Golf, Cam Smith bins mullet and Talor Gooch accepts special invite into The Masters – the worst golf stories from the industry on April Fool’s Day.
This morning, the golf community was shocked by a flurry of news on social media, with the most significant being the report from Flushing It claiming that Rory McIlroy will be signing with LIV Golf following The Masters.
“McIlroy has relaxed his position on LIV Golf and Saudi investment in golf, leading to speculation that he will join the breakaway league after The Masters.”
The post went on to announce that McIlroy will be establishing a new LIV Golf team known as ‘Shark GC’, which will be owned by CEO Greg Norman.
But of course, if you needed any reminding, today is 1 April, known as April Fool’s Day.
Multiple sources close to the player have confirmed that Rory McIlroy WILL join LIV Golf after the Masters. Itâs understood he will join a new expansion team called âShark GCâ to be owned by non-playing captain Greg Norman. This is a dramatic reversal from the vocal LIV critic.

Other eye-catching headlines saw MyGolfSpy confirm Talor Gooch had accepted a special invite into The Masters from 11-14 April, and Ripper GC let their fans know captain Cameron Smith had got rid of his long-time mullet ahead of LIV Golf Miami this week.
Golfweek actually thought that Ripper GC was important enough to feature in an article, but later decided to remove it.
In the era of sports light, we decided to participate by writing an article about how using orange golf balls can improve scores.
Great job if you recognized that was yet another prank for April Fool’s Day.
 Â
If not, then why not buy some orange golf balls and see if they really work?!
In other places, golf companies also joined in on the festivities.
Stewart Golf released a funny video showcasing TurfTek, the first environmentally-friendly golf trolley in the world.
If you search extensively on golf social media today, you will undoubtedly find numerous other interesting April Fool’s pranks.
What was your preferred option?”
