Hamilton summoned to stewards over bizarre incident.

Lewis Hamilton has been called to the stewards at the Austrian Grand Prix after an unsafe release during the final section of qualifying.

Lewis Hamilton has been called to see the stewards for an unsafe release during the final part of qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix.

The rule in question is Article 34.14 a) which states β€œcars must not be released from a garage or pit stop position in a way that could endanger pit lane personnel or another.”

The driver of the Mercedes was observed exiting the garage for his initial run in Q3 with the rear jack still attached to the rear of the vehicle. The camera captured him when the equipment fell off the back of his W15 and landed on its side.

The 39-year-old secured the fifth spot for the grand prix at the Red Bull Ring, however, Mercedes will need to provide an explanation for the incident to the FIA.
