LIV Golf superstar Jon Rahm has his say after seeing a Golf Digest article claim he is reportedly desperate to head back to the PGA Tour.
Jon Rahm has refuted a sensational report from Golf Digest this week, which suggested that he is dissatisfied with LIV Golf and eager to return to the PGA Tour. Rahm, 29, emerged as a prominent acquisition for LIV Golf at the conclusion of 2023. The former World No. 1 is said to have agreed to a five-year contract valued at approximately $600 million.
It was a shock move to many in the sport given Rahm had made it clear multiple times in 2022 that LIV Golf was “not appealing” to him.
“My heart is with the PGA Tour,” Rahm said two years ago as he declared his fealty to the American circuit.
Little more than a year later, Rahm went back on his word and pen to paper on a huge new deal with the breakaway Saudi golf league.
Now eight months into his first season with LIV Golf, rumours are swirling that Rahm is having second thoughts.
But is he really?
According to a Golf Digest article written by Jaime Diaz this week, an unnaned ‘Tour insider’ told the publication “if Jon Rahm could give the money back to the Saudis and come back to the PGA Tour, he couldn’t write the cheque fast enough.”
Jon Rahm hits back at shock LIV Golf rumour that he wants to return to PGA Tour .
Rahm was pressed for comment on the shock rumour during a rain delay in the first round of LIV Golf Greenbrier on Friday afternoon.
Per Pro Golf Critic on X / Twitter, Rahm laughed off Golf Digest’s claim and said the publication loves to “just make sh*t up”.
Rahm is understood to have said:
“Yeah that’s why I can’t stop smiling out here.
“They just make sh*t up.
“Couldn’t be further from the truth.”
Pro Golf Critic tweeted: “Complete garbage from Jaime Diaz and Golf Digest.”
He added: “So Jaime and Golf Digest talk to ‘anonymous sources’. Well, we just talked to the ACTUAL source (who actually has integrity), so I like my sources better. Lmao.”
So Jaime & @GolfDigest talk to “anonymous sources.”
Well, we just talked to the ACTUAL source (who actually has integrity), so I like my sources better. Lmao.
Rahm commenced the LIV Golf Greenbrier tournament with an impressive score of 6-under 64 in the opening round.
This places him just one stroke behind the leaders. The Spanish golfer is striving to secure consecutive individual victories within the LIV Golf League, having achieved his inaugural LIV Golf championship in England at the JCB Golf & Country Club at the end of the previous month.
