After the defeat of the US Open final, Jessica Pegula becomes emotional and addresses her parents, husband, sister, and team: “Thank you for supporting me forever”
In an emotional Jessica Pegula commended her staff, family, and fans for their unwavering support throughout the years following her defeat against Aryna Sabalenke in the final of the 2024 US Open. Sabalenka won her third Grand Slam after defeating the sixth seed, 7-5, 7-5, in one hour and 53 minutes.
Pegula entered the Meadows after strong campaigns in Toronto, where she won the championship, and Cincinnati, where she made it to the final but lost to Sabalenka.
To get to the summit battle, the sixth seed defeated Shelby Rogers, Sofia Kenin, Jessica Bouzas, 18th seed Diana Shnaide, and top seed iga Switaek.She rallied from a set down to defeat Karolina Muchova and go to her first Grand Slam final.However, after a grueling struggle, the second seed brought the championship to New York.
During the prize ceremony, Jessica Pegula thanked everyone in her box for their ‘forever’ support.The box contains her coaches, physiotherapist, trainer, agent, brother, sister, and spouse.She stated that the past several weeks had been wild, hinting to her accomplishments.
“Thank you guys over there in my box,” she stated (at 1:38).”Thanks to both my coaches,Mark and Mark,Seb on my physio,John,my trainer,my brother,my sister,agent,husband,everybody that’s in the box today.”
“Thank you so much for your support over the last, well, forever.But it’s also been wild in the previous several weeks and months.”
Jessica Pegula also thanked her parents, Terry and Kim Pegula, and stated that she had many friends and relatives in the audience but didn’t know where they all were. She also thanked her supporters for turning out to support her at her hometown Grand Slam.
