Lewis Hamilton discovers Carlos Sainz’s actual sentiments as the F1 star explains why he is still upset.
Carlos Sainz has spoken out about his time at Ferrari, revealing he is still ‘mad’ over his bad 2022 season, which eventually cost him as his tenure with the Prancing Horse draws to a close.
Carlos Sainz confessed he is still “angry” over not taking use of his opportunity at Ferrari, but the Spanish F1 driver says the choice to replace him with Lewis Hamilton was a no-brainer.
Ferrari said in February that Hamilton would take over Sainz’s seat for the 2025 season. Their first announcement, which announced the entrance of the seven-time world champion, made no mention of Sainz, who has been with the club since 2021.
Sainz was abruptly fired by Ferrari after they picked Hamilton to join Charles Leclerc, despite being in the midst of contract renewal negotiations for 2025 and beyond. After months of uncertainty, the 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with Williams in July.
Sainz told AS, “I have nothing bad to say about Ferrari.” I don’t believe they have any negative remarks for me either. It is a relationship that has ended not because we are unhappy with each other, but due to circumstances.
“I am still certain that if Hamilton had not decided to continue his career with Ferrari, I would have renewed. But you can’t say no to a seven-time world champion, I get that; it’s a match made in heaven, and now it’s my turn.
