Since F1 star Michael Schumacher’s life was altered for good in a catastrophic skiing accident, his family has kept him private to the point where he has not been seen in public since that fateful day in December 2013.
It is a lock-down that has been taken to the interior of the couple’s luxurious Spanish and Swiss homes with only three very close members of the Schumacher family allowed to visit the now 55-year-old, whose medical condition has never been communicated to his fans.
The racing F1 legend received the life changing brain injury at the age of 44 and such an extremely private and protective nature of Sack 26 live of the racing driver has caused the extended family relationships to deteriorate most particularly with his younger brother Ralf the 49 year old.
On the other hand, there are growing indications that his most loyal defender, Corinna, 55, is now willing to throw the couple’s cocoon open a little.
The following are three large family events from the past months which help explain why relations are also likely to get easier.
This weekend’s ultra-glamorous wedding of the Schumachers’ equestrian champion daughter Gina, 27, to Iain Bethke was held at the Schumachers’ lavish Mallorca villa – a four-acre estate nestled high on the cliffs above the popular holiday resort at Port d’Andratx – and invited the rest of the Schumacher clan to the wedding.
Security was still extremely tight – phones were collected at the door – but there are indications that the wedding may be the first time Michael has been permitted to attend any public event, as he watched his eldest child’s bridal march down the aisle.
