Bob MacIntyre was not best pleased with Rory McIlroy during the second round of the Dunhill Links on the DP World Tour.
That was after McIlroy put his green at the par-4 14th while MacIntyre waited to sink a 10-foot birdie putt.
While MacIntyre stood over his ball debating his putt, McIlroy took his swing on the tee and hit a huge drive that rolled on to the center of the green.
I think it is important to mark that the hole is playing 390 yards this week but it is downhill and down wind.
MacIntyre then got to the base of the tee and turned to look at the green before standing motionless for a few moments with what appeared to be displeasure at having his playing interrupted.
The Scot then continued to stand still while making his shot as McIlroy’s playing partner Billy Horschel shot down the hole.
But Horschel missed the green well left.
Sky Sports commentator Rich Beem said: “Bob seems a little annoyed by that.”
Nick Dougherty chimed in: “Yeah, definitely bristling a little there is Bob.”
Ewen Murray added: “Rory is preparing his apology by the looks of it!”
On-course commentator Iona Stephen then confirmed MacIntyre was “not a happy chappy” after seeing McIlroy drive while he was still on the green.

MacIntyre would thankfully make his birdie putt.
McIlroy also made a birdie.
David will surely be making an apology to MacIntyre after the match as the World No.3.
MacIntyre unfortunately landed the ball in the burn with his second shot onto the par-4 18th, which cost him a double bogey.
Woods signed off for a level-par 72, but this put him at 5-under for the rest of the competition.
McIlroy shot a second conscitive of 69 to take him to 6-under par.
However, it was a day of lost opportunities for McIlroy — who simply could not get the putter hot.
Even now they are far behind, both players will be aiming to go low on the Old Course at St Andrews on Saturday.
Nico Colsaerts caressed the Carnoustie course to a stunning 65 and likewise jumped 14-under par and Cameron John maintain par with 68 at St Andrews.
It will be See and McIlroy playing with their dads this week at the Dunhill Links.
MacIntyre had a brilliant summer in 2024 and won two PGA Tour titles.
His first came at the RBC Canadian Open alongside his father Dougie when he was caddieing for his son.
The second then was back on home ground at the Genesis Scottish Open which was part of both PGA Tour and the DP World Tour.
McIlroy has not been at his sharpest this year but he is comfortably ahead in the DP World Tour Rankings accumulated throughout the season.
Again, should he clinch the Race to Dubai in November – it seems almost a formality at this point – then the Spaniard will tie with the late Severiano Ballesteros for six Harry Vardon trophies.
