Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton has severed ties with the entertainment mogul Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy. This comes as the 7-time F1 champion recently deleted photos from his social media platforms, signaling a clear intent to distance himself from Diddy amid ongoing allegations. This coincides with a broad pattern of prominent figures distancing themselves from Combs following these serious allegations. Historically, the relationship between Hamilton and Diddy is well-known. Hamilton himself had described their relationship as brotherly. According to Marca, Hamilton previously said the following:
Brothers (dressed) in white. I grew up watching and listening to my man ‘Puff.’ Being here today as brothers is an honor and a privilege. I appreciate you for all you do, for being one of the best and for always showing love. Blessings.” This friendship spanned back to the early days of Hamilton’s career in 2007, and they have up until recently been close.
But here, the recent allegations against Diddy can be considered significant as a turning point. Combs is involved of criminal and civil action and was prosecuted in the federal level for the alleged sex trafficking Combs. The legal issues mentioned further include participation in prostitution and an eye-opening number of civil law suits with sexual abuse and misconduct charges. Accompanied by a lawyer who says he represents 120 individuals, the complaints relate to different people such as minors, and address coercive, meetings led by Diddy.
Tony Buzbee, representing the claimants, said the following: Such kind of rape, abuse, exploitation should not occur in USA or at any other part of the world. It is only shocking to realize that such situation, should never have been allowed to continue for this long. This conduct has produced a world full of people that are hurt, afraid, and healable.
Nevertheless, there are quite serious allegations towards Diddy and his lawyers and other representatives defend him actively. They have categorically refuted the claims pointing out that the accusations are made with the intention of being paid. A statement from Diddy’s legal team, via the Sky News report previously linked, stresses that he “categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors” It continued: βHe enjoys the prospect of being able to clear his name, and disprove the allegations, if and when such claims are made and served, through due evidence in a court of law.β
This denial from Combs has not stopped other figures from dis-associating themselves with him further. While his legal team has applied for bail at $50 million it has been rejected so far. Nothing indicates that Lewis Hamilton has anything to do with these accusations.
