Bubba Watson makes surprising announcement after LIV Golf relegation

Bubba Watson has confirmed he will make his International Series debut on the Asian Tour later this month at the BNI Indonesian Masters.

Former Masters champion Bubba Watson is set to join LIV Golf’s secondary circuit for the first time in the last month.

Watson has been entered in the field of play in the BNI Indonesian Masters list.

Started on 31 ST October at Royale Jakarta Golf Club, is the seventh of ten events in the Asian Tour’s International Series.

The order of merit for the current season means the winner gets a golden ticket to the next year’s LIV Golf League and today it looks like John Catlin is going to get a promotion.

Watson ended his campaign at the bottom of the table on the Saudi-backed tour this season but since he is a team captain he cannot be relegated.

The American suggested earlier this year that his days on the golf course might be limited due to lack of form.

He hinted that he was open to the idea of stepping back from playing and assuming a managerial role of the RangeGoats.

But at least for now, it appears Watson, 45, won’t be walking off into the sunset just yet.

“As everyone knows I have really enjoyed playing in tournaments overseas and so I am really excited about playing in Indonesia for the first time,” Watson said in a release.

Watson will be making his ninth appearance Asian Tour in Indonesia.

He has finished runner-up twice in Asian Tour events.

He continued: “I enjoy coming to Asia and soaking in the sights and sounds and also seeing the diverse mixture of players out here.

The BNI Indonesian Masters plays a big part in The International Series, which provides a pathway onto the LIV Golf League.

“I’m a big believer in LIV Golf and I’m proud of the impact it has had on the game of golf worldwide.”

What has Bubba Watson said about retirement?

Watson said he was considering retiring prior to deciding to sign with LIV Golf.

An arthroscopic surgery on his knees made him inactive for PGA Tour for several months.

He planned a break up with Ted Scott prior to LIV making him an offer that would change his future.

Watson in recent interview with Today’s Golfer expressed his desire to continue playing until he is 50 years and above.

But he agreed that he will do what is necessary for the team in LIV golf.

”To this, the paper quoted him as saying: ‘I’m well charged up but if I can find the right persons to fit the slots and there is a young man on the rise, believe you me, I will gladly hand over.’

In terms of an owner, there is nothing better than having the best talent on the line for the RangeGoats.

The breakout is telling that if the Lakers are not that guy and if there is someone better than him, let him take over so that I don’t have to stress over three-footers again out there anymore.
