Max Verstappen’s opinion on Lewis Hamilton potentially moving to Ferrari is in line with what one would expect from the Red Bull F1 driver.
Max Verstappen remains unfazed by external events, with even Lewis Hamilton’s potential move to Ferrari failing to shake him.
When questioned about Lewis Hamilton’s upcoming transfer to Ferrari, Max Verstappen gave a straightforward response: “I am not concerned.”
The Dutchman also emphasized that he does not view a switch to the Scuderia in the same romantic way as his former Formula 1 title rival. One major factor in Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes after 11 seasons is his lifelong aspiration of driving for Ferrari.
Verstappen’s decision would be solely based on performance. He pragmatically explained to Germany’s Sport Bild, “I see it that way.” I desire victory and will seek to drive where I can achieve it most effectively.
Currently, Red Bull is in the process. It’s not that I secretly fantasize about the red racing suit and the idea is always on my mind as I seek a new challenge. Particularly because there are no available cockpit seats for free.
However, it is undeniable that the Ferrari brand is remarkable and has accomplished much in our sport. Lewis made the logical choice to seize the opportunity when it presented itself. Apart from that point, Verstappen had little to say about his personal thoughts on Hamilton’s decision.
When questioned about his statement of not caring, he responded by saying: “I aim to outdo all drivers regardless of their car.” It makes no difference to me if Lewis is in the red car or the silver car. I comprehend that there is significant interest in his decision.
This is beneficial for Formula 1. It will be intriguing to observe the dynamics between him and Charles Leclerc while collaborating as teammates. However, it didn’t have much of an impact on me. I had no feelings.
Verstappen is currently in a championship fight with another British driver. Going into the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, he has a 47-point lead over Lando Norris, but he fell back in Mexico due to receiving 20 seconds’ worth of time penalties for being too aggressive while defending against the McLaren driver on track.
The Dutch driver has received a lot of negative feedback for his racing style, but he is determined to stick to his ways and even sees similarities with Michael Schumacher, who also pushed the limits at times. He declared: “I am not interested in praise, my focus is on winning and I consistently give my all to achieve it.”
I believe that is what bonds me with drivers such as Michael. He always made sure to try everything possible to maximize his chances of success. In both driving the car and designing it, he excelled. Fear has no place, but common sense must still prevail.
