Lewis Hamilton disqualified from Chinese GP as FIA finds problem with Ferrari.
Ferrari saw both their drivers disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s cars both having found to have been in breach of the rules.
Lewis Hamilton has been disqualified from the Chinese Grand Prix. The seven-time Formula 1 champion finished the race sixth on the road but post-race checks on his Ferrari discovered that it was not in compliance with the sport’s complex technical rules.
F1 regulations limit the amount of wear that it allowed to happen to the underside of a car during a race. This is to prevent teams from running their cars too close to the ground, which increases downforce and therefore performance.
Each car receives an installed plank attached underneath to serve as a monitoring tool. Each vehicle must maintain at least 9.8mm thickness on its plank during the complete Grand Prix for racing purposes. The base plank that assesses this measurement is exactly 10mm thick.
Three separate examinations of Hamilton’s post-race vehicle in Shanghai revealed that the center of the vehicle measured 8.6 millimetres. The FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer filed a report to the stewards about the modified plank because the team removed 0.4 millimeters beyond the allowed limit.
Racing cars which break technical regulations will definitely face disqualification as punishment. Hamilton had his race standings revoked because of the Ferrari team’s two disqualified vehicles which finished the weekend with a highly bitter mood.
After race weight measurements discovered the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc to be underweight leading to his disqualification. All Grand Prix competitors including their driving vehicles must weigh at a minimum 800kg but Leclerc’s Ferrari turned out to be 1 kilogram light.
The Monegasque suffered wing damage during his race due to hitting Hamilton yet this incident did not influence the final weight check. The car weight requirements remained below limit even after Ferrari conducted a piece replacement yet the empty vehicle remained below weight tolerance.
Both the cars of Leclerc and Gasly showed a weight measurement of 799kg during inspection. Both racing drivers received automatic disqualification from placement while their following competitors in the race moved up by one position. The championship positions were modified by the top ten finish of Hamilton and Leclerc since the disqualifications altered their race results.
