Rory McIlroy had recently claimed victory at the Masters when Justin Thomas won the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in a playoff against Andrew Novak. The championship marked his 16th PGA Tour triumph yet it became his first victory since winning the PGA Championship at Southern Hill in 2022.
The tournament began with Thomas performing a first-round 61 score which he followed by a second-round 68 to end his competition at 17-under 267. A long 18-foot birdie putt made successful his victory by concluding the first additional hole.
The first-place tournament winnings amounting to $3.6 million were given to Thomas as part of the $20 million PGA Tour signature event prize fund.
