Padraig Harrington, Roger Maltbie go at it in bizarre video from U.S. Senior Open

Multiple major champion Padraig Harrington was involved in a heated confrontation with NBC’s Roger Maltbie after the first round of the US Senior Open

Multiple major champion Padraig Harrington was involved in a furious argument with an on-course commentator after the first round of the US Senior Open.

Harrington, 53, began the major well and a superb 3-under 67 left him in a tie for the lead with Mark Hensby after 18 holes.

But the three-time major winner was not happy at all with one incident that transpired at The Broadmoor with his group and NBC’s on-course analyst Roger Maltbie.

Harrington, who was playing alongside Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard, was agitated the veteran commentator didn’t help look for a lost ball.

Never on a golf course stand and look at somebody looking for a golf ball,” Harrington could be heard saying.

“You’ve played golf all your life. You understand. You don’t stand looking at somebody looking for a golf ball.

“You’ve played golf for 40 years; you don’t just stand there looking.”

Harrington’s long-time caddie Ronan Flood attempted to defuse the situation but Maltbie stood his ground.

“I’m not a player,” Maltbie, 73, said.

Harrington replied: “You’ve told me you’ve looked for hundreds of golf balls.”
