Red Bull is preparing for a tougher challenge in Mexico this weekend.
During a dip in their performance mid-season, the champions put in effort during the three-week break between Singapore and Austin to increase Max Verstappen’s lead over Lando Norris in the US GP.
Tom Coronel, a Dutch individual, believes that the event marked a pivotal moment in the competition for the 2024 championship.
Both Lando and Max are resolute, but Max exhibits a higher level of aggression. He informed Viaplay that he is a fighter. He always perseveres.
Max is solely concentrating on winning the championship, and I believe it’s a done deal at this point. Norris is finished.
Dr Helmut Marko compared Max to a squirrel, saying he picks up any nut he comes across.
The Red Bull advisor mentioned that he has the necessary experience for the task, and so do we as a team.
Olav Mol, a Dutch commentator, informed Ziggo Sport that if Max is able to maintain a lead of at least 57 points now, he can secure the championship with two races remaining.
It was evident that he was like, “Allow those Ferraris to do their thing.” I see Norris in my rear-view mirror and I am okay with that.
Additionally to Verstappen’s performance and the improved Red Bull car, Mol believes McLaren has also been negatively impacted by the ban of its ‘mini DRS’ wing.
McLaren has definitely suffered a loss in top speed, as stated by him in an interview with Ziggo Sport. That wing had a purpose.
Robert Doornbos, a previous Red Bull driver, also affirmed that in Baku, Charles Leclerc could overtake Oscar Piastri using DRS. That was the extent of its impact.
Nonetheless, Marko is concerned that the track in Mexico for this weekend may not be as well-suited for the Red Bull team as Austin was.
Do not overlook George Russell in the Mercedes car, as he showed incredible speed in Texas. In Mexico, I predict a competition among Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, and our team.
