Tiger Woods’ message to son Charlie after they miss out PNC Championship sums him up

Tiger Woods and his young son Charlie ended up two shy of this year’s PNC Championship winners, Team Langer, in a playoff but the 15-time major winner was beaming after the event.

Woods and his developing 15-year-old golfer son Charlie came extremely close to winning the title of the PNC Championship in Orlando but they lost in a sudden death playoff to Team Langer. Tiger, however, did not let the intent overshadow its successful penetration of the target company, which it narrowly avoided last year.

Charlie made waves by nailing an eagle on the third hole, followed by an astonishing first-ever hole-in-one on the 175-yard fourth. Tiger, 48, when asked about his feelings as a dad witnessing such moments, said: “It’s one of the highlights that we’ve ever had. We were talking about earlier, he made his first eagle. Now he just made his first hole-in-one. It’s a magical two-hole stretch

I’m just so happy for him. It was a lot of fun. It was back-and-forth, no one made a mistake today.” Charlie shared his father’s enthusiasm, saying: “It was awesome. No one made a mistake today, and on top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that.

Both teams finished Sunday tied at 15-under, leading to a nail-biting playoff, which resulted in Bernhard Langer securing his sixth win at this event. This year marked Langer’s fourth win alongside his son Jason, after attaining two previous victories with his other son, Stefan, reports the Mirror US.

Langer has also played with his daughter Christina what used to be called the Father/Son Challenge. Woods demonstrated endurance, he walked through 54-holes no sign of discomfort from his ankle injuries though they have been an issue early in the year due to the car accident of 2021.

Lower back, he had a microdecompression surgery in September 2024. Prior to the 2024 PNC Championships, Woods has not played in any tournament since the British Open back in July. As when Woods was asked how he now felt that he conducted ‘the test’ here this week, he did not duck the armoury. Well, I knew I wasn’t in any shape for competition. I’m a great scramble partner,” he chuckled. “We truly are a great team this week and then is the beauty of it, being out here with family.”

Charlie AND Tiger were not the only ones from the Woods family to grace the TV screens this weekend. His daughter Sam, 17, acted as a caddy for the pair; Woods’s ex-wife, Elin Nordegen, also appeared at the event for the first time since 2020.

It is said that she once missed her son’s hole-in-one live, and could only watch it on television. Charlie, however was overcome with pride over his shot.

I said to him, ‘It was kind of a seven-iron shot and all he had to do is hit it,’ perfectly,” he said. Above the leftdown, littlecut seven. It was awesome. I didn’t think it went in. It doesn’t matter how many people tell me something, I don’t believe them until I get up there and see it.
