Watch Jon Rahm nail Phil Mickelson with rangefinder-to-meters prank … again

This spring, we shared an episode of Grant Horvat’s “2v2 Golf Match” YouTube series pitting Jon Rahm and Josh Allen against Horvat and Phil Mickelson. In the clip, Horvat and Mickelson were mystified to find their approach shots coming up nearly 100 yards short … until they made a startling discovery:

Someone [cough JOSH ALLEN cough] had switched their rangefinder to meters.

Phil didn’t seem too amused by the ruse—which he admitted was his own invention—but that wasn’t enough to keep him on guard on Monday at LIV Duels Virginia, where he got got … again. Only this time it wasn’t the Allen who got him. It was own LIV colleague, Rahm, who lifted the trick play right out of the Bills QB’s playbook. Check it out.

In the immortal words of Dubya, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice … you can’t get fooled again.

watch here:

To be fair to Phil, he caught on a lot quicker this time and immediately pointed the finger at Rahm. Rahm tried to play innocent at first, joking, “What, I’m the only one using meters? There are three Europeans here!” But when Horvat checked and realized his rangefinder had also mysteriously switched to meters, Rahm couldn’t keep a straight face and burst out laughing.

If you’re in the mood for a new prank to try on your golf buddies this summer—something a little more original than the tired rubber snake gag—this one’s a solid choice. It’s especially effective on someone like Phil, who’s not exactly thrilled by tech settings. Just remember: pranks have a way of coming back around, so don’t be surprised if you end up on the receiving end next time.
